4.5 Stars – Very Functional Competitor
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Externally the bag looks very sharp: dark black with only a few bright orange accents that are fairly minimal. Inside it’s a different story with very bright yellow – it’s a bit too much for my tastes however it does help illuminate inside the backpack (think of a dim lowlight situation). The internal configurability is top notch and the Velcro does stay in place remarkably well. Additionally there is padding everywhere there needs to be and I feel safe putting my SLR and expensive accessories in the backpack without any additional wrapping. Padding and reconfigurability are the core competencies of the backpack and this is where excels so well. There are lots of smaller pouches inside and outside of the bag but their ability to support objects of any depth is very limited (great for cables though). The back side of the pack has a mesh surface to help air circulation and well as some channels to provide additional air flow.
On the lesser attractions:
- The nylon material looks like Cordura which is what you would expect on a duffel bag, but it seems a little less welcome on an expensive backpack. That being said there is a more aesthetically pleasing black grid nylon used quite a bit – I wish they had used that everywhere externally.
- The computer pouch is directly against your bag – it is padded, but the rigidity can become bothersome after having it on your back for a long time.
- I also worry that the bright orange accents are basically plastic/rubber sewn into the main seems, not sure how these will wear long term.
Final thoughts:
The entire backpack is fairly rigid so it can’t easily be compressed into a smaller form factor; it is going to be the same sized box shaped backpack whether you have a single point & shoot versus an SLR with 3 lenses and all your accessories. If you are OK with the footprint then I would highly recommend it.
A must-have for travelers: Assurance that your gear is safe.

The Caselogic laptop backpack exceeded my (and my wife’s) expectations. It easily holds our Nikon D50 camera, along with our filters, extra batteries, and other accessories. We use it mainly on overnight trips – when we need to bring along my 15-inch MacBook Pro.
It’s very well constructed – and you can even adjust the interior, customizing it to perfectly suit your needs. I also like the fact that it stands on its own: won’t flop over. Plus the base is a waterproof rubber/plastic material that seems very durable.
You can even strap your tripod onto the side with a couple of sturdy Velcro straps.
The only think my wife wanted to see were wheels and a collapsible handle …for when she’s at the airport. Personally I prefer to wear it as a backpack and think wheels and a handle would add weight and make it a bit bulky.
For me, two thumbs up! This backpack is very well made (impressive 25 year warranty), looks great and best of all, protects our expensive camera, equipment and laptop for those occasions when we need to travel.
Awesome

Just got it but I can tell already this is the best SLR bag ever made.
Great job on Case Logic’s part. Awesome bag.
UPDATE: I just got a battery grip for my Canon 50D and now the camera doesn’t really fit well anymore, it sticks out a bit and while closing it with the zipper still works; it’s a little bit of a hassle.
Great bag but not for large DSLRs 1D or battery grip users

It has been a long trek for me finding the perfect bag, so far this Caselogic bag comes close but still no cigar… I am looking for a bag I can bring to work daily to carry my laptop and most if not all my camera gear and not look like a luggage is on my back.
The good:
- Excellent padding throughout the entire bag.
- Hard bottom for stability & protection.
- Divider padding is thick (see bad).
- Memory foam cover of the camera slot.
The bad:
- Shoulder strap is thinly padded (My Canon branded camera backpack has a beefier shoulder strap).
- Very tight fit for my 50D with battery pack, needs alot of forcing to zip closed (Canon 1D & battery grip pack owners beware).
- Dividers are too thick, wasting valuable space (easily remedied).
- The camera holder suspension slot is too tight, I can’t insert the camera with the hood on (24-70mm). Going in and out the camera gets stuck. (It can be removed)
I have 3 bags currently (Canon & Lowepro Computrekker Plus) this Caselogic bag is an excellent size, not too big, and I was able to fit all my gear plus my MBP 15″. However the bad listed for the battery pack prevents me from using it everyday. In addition the straps on the Caselogic slr206 concerns me on the long term reliability.
well designed backpack

A camera, lenses, and laptop is what the bag is intended for, but I always want to carry other things too. Since the padded dividers are removable you can take them out so the bag can hold other things, though it’s not ideal. Since the camera suspension thing is at the top of the bag, it’s very top heavy if the bag isn’t full. But putting the camera at the top of the bag allows you to carry the camera with a large telephoto lens attached.
The SLR suspension system is really nice, and its a good design to protect your camera and give you easy access to it. Since the camera is in the same zippered compartment as the lenses or whatever else you have in the main compartment, there are small velcro tabs to prevent the bag from being opened any farther than necessary to take the camera out. The bag is well padded and stiff, so it’s the same size whether its full or mostly empty. Tripod straps are a plus.
The bottom of the bag is supposed to be waterproof. They don’t make any mention of the zippers, they don’t seem to be water resistant at all. There isn’t even a flap to cover them to keep out the water. I could be wrong about the zippers, I have not tested them. Otherwise it seems to be a very well made and well thought out bag.
Great Buy for Camera and Computer

I purchased this for my SLR Camera and so I could take my laptop with me when I travel. It works very well. The camera compartment is easily changed to whatever compartments you need for extra lenses, cables, or whatever you want. I think it gets heavy after I load it up so wish it had wheels.
Outstanding quality, outstanding features
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
If you need to be able to carry your camera, lenses, and laptop in one convenient, comfortable bag, look no further: this is the product you want.
This backpack has secure, easy-to-use compartments for everything you’ll need when you’re out taking pictures and editing. The quality of materials and construction is excellent. The shoulder straps are nicely padded and very comfortable. The bottom of the backpack has a sturdy, rubberized shell. This is a great feature that many manufacturers overlook. You can sit the backpack down on damp pavement or wet grass and not worry about your equipment getting wet, and all you have to do is wipe off the bottom of the backpack with a cloth and you’re good to go.
Everything else is pretty much self explanatory, and there’s not much else to say that hasn’t been said in the other reviews. Bottom line: this is a really cool and well-made backpack! And don’t let the price scare you away. After all, if you’re carrying several thousand dollars worth of camera gear and computer gear, doesn’t it make sense to spend a little extra on a high-quality bag to carry it all?
Outstanding case
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a very well built and well desinged case. It’s rugged and looks like it would protect your gear even from a large drop. It’s got lots of spots for any lens you might wan to carry and of course, room for a laptop. While it’s too big for daily use for a typical consumer it’s perfect for those times when you want carry all your gear.
Wish it was a little bigger and a little cheaper, but still an excellent bag
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I highly recommend watching the video review of this bag. Seeing the review is what sealed the deal for me to buy this. The bag is high quality, durable, and so well thought out. The hard shell bottom is great when you’re in nature, and there are velco loops on the side that work well for strapping on a tripod bag. All compartments in the bag are well-padded. I love the way the camera sits in it’s own suspension system. If I had one wish for this bag, it would be a little wider and a little taller (and a little cheaper). (Ok, so that’s actually 3 wishes but you weren’t supposed to notice that.)
It turns out that I’m not really toting my laptop around as much as I thought I would. But this will be an excellent carry-on bag for traveling. Eventually I’m going to buy a similar bag, but one that wasn’t made for holding a laptop. That way, there is more room for camera gear. But I will still keep this bag for traveling or any other time that I need to bring my laptop with. I love this bag.
Very nice backpack – met my needs perfectly

I recently purchased this bag after seeing one belonging to someone else. I came home and searched a variety of similar bags and decided on this one. BTW, the price on Amazon was much lower than other sites. It fits my Sony Alpha 850 well, and I like the fact that it accomodates a variety of lenses attached to the camera – all except my f2.8 zoom, which is just a bit too long. There is plenty of room in the bag for my flash, 2 extra lenses, filters, battery & charger. Also there are multiple small zip pockets for memory cards, note pads, pens, whatever. Also the computer area fits my Dell Inspiron 1505 with 15″ screen. Sure, when it is loaded it is heavy, but it is better than lugging two separate bags as I was doing before. I also like the fact that it stands up easily because of the flat bottom. Oh yeah, the tripod straps on to the side, which is pretty coo. The camera is easily accesed by unzipping just the top portion of the bag where the camera is suspended comfortably in the sling. Would recommend to anyone in my situation – an avid beginner.
Finally an ultimate backpack for digital photo amateur/pro

The things I like about this bag:
1. Fits my Canon EOS 20D with a zoom L lens attached in camera compartment! Don’t have to remove even moderate zoom lenses off the camera before storing.
2. Very easy to just take the camera out and put back in – there are small ties that let you open only the top half of the camera compartment so you can just take the camera alone out while the lenses, filters etc are safely stored below.
3. Great shock protection and wet protection; stands on its own even when fully loaded.
4. Fits my Dell 15.6″ inspiron as well smaller Dell lattitude 14″ notebooks.
5. For every day use, I remove the camera inserts/velcros and use it as a laptop backpack and on outdoor trips, I use it as camera+laptop backpack! After removing the dividers in the camera compartment (attached with sturdy velcro), there is enough area to keep bunch of papers, documents, or dress for overnight stay! Great utilitarian use.
6. construction quality is superb. I have other backpacks that have zippers etc that are hanging everywhere creating a mess catching somewhere while moving. This one is great – there is no loose hanging piece outside the bag – a clean finish.
7. Also holds a small tripod or unipod securely on the side
8. Has enough small zippered/unzippered packets for storing digital media etc.
Things I don’t like:
1. price – it shoule be a little more affordable. But if you can afford, this bag is an ultimate buy in terms of quality and utility.
A very well designed SLR & Laptop Backpack
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
If you’re looking for a lightweight nicely designed backpack that will fit an SLR Camera(plus camera accessories) and a laptop (up to 15.4″), look no further. I was not only surprised at how light and sturdy this backpack was, but also surprised to see so many zippers and pockets it had. Another feature that I didn’t expect was a nice sturdy rubberized type bottom on the backpack. It seems to add some structural integrity as well as making it more rugged for outdoor use. There’s really not much to “not like” about this bag… it’s just designed exceptionally well. The only thing I wasn’t a big fan of (and this is just personal opinion) was the orange color of the inside of the bag. Also, the general round shape of the bag (while being very functional) could be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. But, because beauty is in the eye of the beholder and function well exceeds this small weakness, I still think it deserves 5 stars.
Here are some quick Pros and Cons:
Pros:
-Very Well Designed ( Light, Rugged, and very functional)
-Attention to detail (Rubberized bottom, zipper and pocket placement)
-Although the price may seem “pricey”, for what you get… this backpack delivers on Quality.
-Size was smaller (and lighter) than expected. It’s kind of amazing how much you can fit in this bag.
Cons:
-Orange interior color ( I would have liked more color choices… like dark blue or red)
-It could have looked better… but I’m not going to take points off for my personal aesthetic preferences.
Conclusion:
It’s a no brainer. If you’re looking for a bag that will carry your SLR camera safely along with your laptop, this bag will do the trick. It also seems sturdy enough to probably last you a few good years out in the field …if you do lots of outdoor photography.
Easily the best SLR/Laptop Bag out there right now
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I ordered this bag after previously owning a few other Caselogic bags and always being more than satisfied with the purchase. This bag continues that tradition with a very versatile, quality feel that holds most of my computing needs. The quick-draw access is quite nice and can fit even my 67mm lenses easily.
Now my only problems with this bag are that there are no outside pouches to easily put something in. This annoys me slightly as I liked my previous bag’s ability to just quickly have a remote or something you use often on the outside. The other problem is that the top and bottom slots in the bag are blocked by features of the bag itself and it makes it hard to get items in and out of these slots easily.
However these minor gripes aside, this bag is great, and easily the best bag of it’s class.
Great design for photography enthusiasts
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I don’t think there is a camera bag on the market that is designed to take an SLR camera and lenses together with a laptop. If you need such a bag, it is the right one for you. The bag can fit a SLR camera with a long lens easily. It also has plenty of room for other lens and accessories. I am still thinking about the absolute need for a laptop. I would say you need such a bag if you are wandering around an area that has Internet access. In that case, you may want to carry a laptop. I don’t think it is feasible to do editing on the laptop. I would go home to do it. As for the quality of the bag, it is great.
Great bag but could use a few improvements
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Good solid back that holds its form well due to the molded bottom. The bag does not tip over even when it feels very top heavy with my dslr inside. The bag is pretty slim for a camera bag and easily fits under the front seat on an airplane.
My only 2 complaints are the stitching quality (esp on the straps) and the lack or a waist band to help distribute the load. I noticed some stitching on my straps becoming unraveled but hopefully it won’t cause any big issues. Without the waist strap, I noticed with this bag a lot of the weight is on your shoulder and not distributed so much to your back.
Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase as the bag fits all my needs while holding my 17″ MBP as well.
Lovin’ it already

I just got this in the mail today and I’ve already got it loaded. I even took it out for a quick photo trip to the park. It’s got more than enough room for all my equipment and it’s comfortable. I think I’ll add a bottom pocket for the tripod holder but other than that, I’m in love. Right now I’m looking forward to finishing loading it up to see what I can really do with it.
Another fantastic product from CaseLogic

This is a very well thought out bag that really stands out from others in its class. For someone like me, who travels with their gear and does a good bit of hiking and camping, a rugged bag is essential.
The organizational possibilities are endless with this pack. The interior is composed of numerous foam components (coated in soft felt) equipped with Velcro. It is super easy to rearrange the padding inside to give any lens a snug fit. I threw in my 200mm zoom and 1.4 prime lenses today, quickly readjusted the padding, zipped it up, and I was out the door without a worry. Of course, I still had room for about four other lenses. I also had my 20-year-old Minolta camera in there, and the design of the hammock and the way the padding angled around the camera body gave it a very secure fit. The memory foam designed to sit on top of the camera body is dense, but it is covered in felt and seems safe enough to have pressed against the display screen of a DSLR. In short, there is no need to worry about harming your gear with this pack, which is important because many of us don’t have the most rugged equipment in the world. The padding also gives me peace of mind for hauling my laptop around. My 15.4″ laptop fits like a glove in its designated spot and the padding extends to all sides of the compartment (even on top where it zips).
I have taken this pack with me on a trek through the snow on one occasion. I had no problem or hesitation setting it down in the snow. The bottom is very durable and waterproof, and the pack does not easily tip over. I’ve even packed it lopsided and had some of the flaps hanging open, and it still didn’t tip.
While the main features of this pack are great, the little things Caselogic added are a nice touch. Aside from the main two compartments (for camera equipment and laptop), the ancillary compartments on this bag are useful. There are two pockets on the inside flap of the camera compartment and several pockets accessible from the outside. Each of these has its own padding to some degree, and within most of the pockets are different sized pouches just right for fitting any type of smaller equipment (e.g., batteries, film, memory cards, lens filters). The tripod straps on the outside of the bag seem very durable and large enough to hold most any sized tripod, although I have not yet tried taking one out with me. Finally, it helps that the shoulder straps are padded. When this bag is loaded with a laptop and photo equipment, it gets pretty heavy, and it helps that the full length of the straps are padded.
There’s not a lot to complain about with this pack. In fact, I only have one gripe, and it is too minor to merit the loss of a star from my rating. With the amount of padding on the back of this bag, it’s going to press against your back when you have it loaded, and it doesn’t take long to build up a sweat. It would have been nice to see Caselogic design this pack with an airflow system that holds the pack just far enough off your back to let air through (like with newer hiking backpacks). Maybe that will be the next step. For now, though, this concern is too minor for me to complain.
One crazy case!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have seen cases made to hold a camera. I have seen cases made to hold a laptop. But a case to hold a laptop and a camera?
Not only does it hold a laptop, it holds my 17″ Macbook, which is not a small laptop by any means
There is actually quite a bit of room in this thing. All the stuff that is inside it that you would use to hold the SLR can be removed as they are just attached with velcro. The velcro in there is pretty stout stuff. It will hold everything in place.
The bottom of the case is a heavy rubberized plastic. I am not sure how well it will hold up, but I think it will do pretty darn good. Only time will tell on that.
As for compartments other than the laptop portion and the SLR area, there are a lot of little zippered up areas to put more goodies such as instruction manuals, camera cheat cards, doodads, etc.
The thing is supposed to be water resistant to some extent. Again, I have not tried it, and really don’t want to to be honest.
I should also note something – I have seen Caselogic stuff in stores for years. I even owned a couple of the things they sold. They were okay, but I was not really that impressed. This, on the other hand, has impressed me. I am quite surprised by the build quality of this thing.
Good Product

Is of great quality and does the job well. Can store 1 long zoom lens well. Also has good space for laptop.
Amazing Versatility, High Build Quality, All the “Little” things

I’m an avid photographer, and recently took this bag with me as my main carrying back on a 3 week trip India. I absolutely loved it.
The bag has a ton of compartments that are meant for lenses, but I used them as anything from a compartment to store my camcorders, chargers, medicines, etc. Please check out the pictures I have uploaded. One of the pictures will show HOW MUCH STUFF I had stuffed in this bag.
